These are the spots to grab a gluten-free brew in New York City
New York City is a surprisingly tough spot for someone who is from the West Coast. Our big cities have lots of breweries and cideries that operate their own places in town. This isn’t as common in New York, with a few exceptions you are more likely to find brews at bars that cater to these types of things specifically. Before we dive in, we recommend checking tap lists online because they can change all the time.
Necromantic Brew Co
This is a bit of cheating since it isn’t in New York City, it’s on long island. Since it is relatively close, and the only GF Brewery in the state, I’m going to say that it counts. This horror-themed brewery specializes in all gluten-free beers! It’s totally worth the trip if you are in the city.
Departed Soles Brewing
Again, I’m cheating a little here since this excellent brewery is in Jersey City. They specialize in gluten-free beers using dedicated equipment and ingredients, and they are absolutely worth the trip across the river.
Cardiff Giant
New York State is known for having a significant number of apple trees, and with that comes a lot of locally produced hard ciders. You can find just about all of them available at Cardiff Giant. Their specialty is New York-made Beers, Wine, Cider, and Spirits, many of which are gluten-free.
Craft + Carry
Craft + Carry has hundreds of bottles/cans and a range of taps to choose from. You can grab a bottle and enjoy it on the premises in their lovely little shops with several locations around town. Craft + Carry does not specialize specifically in gluten-free brews, but with so many options there ends up being several to choose from. The staff is very well trained and helpful when it comes time to choose.
The Owl Farm
The Owl Farm specializes in craft beers and ciders with several options and drafts and a large number of bottles in stock. They have craft ciders from all over the world and the selection is just mouthwatering. They are worth checking out if you are in Brooklyn.
It seems like there is just about anything you want in Manhattan, these are just a selection of some of our favorites. We encourage you to explore the city and let us know what else is worth checking out.
