These Are The Best Gluten-Free Brownie Mixes

These Are The Best Gluten-Free Brownie Mixes

This was a tough one! It turns out brownies are pretty good, and I’d have a very tough time as a brownie sommelier. Luckily, we have a large tasting group to turn to to help sort out the best gluten-free boxed brownie mix. It really came down to how you like your brownies; do you like fudge brownies, do you like chips in them, or do you like cakey brownies?

As per usual, we followed the directions on the box and cooked all of the brownies in the same type of metal pan. All brownies were cooked to an internal temperature of 210 degrees Fahrenheit because the toothpick test is very unreliable when cooking gluten-free. Check out our guide for the best kitchen tools for our favorite thermometer.

We purchased all of the brands that we could find at our stores in the Pacific Northwest, If your brand didn’t get reviewed please leave a comment so others can know about it.

King Arthur

King Arthur comes in swinging pretty hard with a lot of their products. Their brownie mix is no different, and the most like a traditional box of brownies. They came out with perfectly chewy edges and a nice soft middle.

Krusteaz

The best mix with chocolate chips: Kusteaz Double Chocolate Brownie Mix

Krusteaz is a popular choice for a lot of gluten-free products, as most grocery stores carry them. Kursteaz’s products are also must more budget-friendly than some of the more specialty options, coming in $2 cheaper than the King Arthur.

Bobs Red Mill

I personally do not like cakey brownies, but some of our reviewers do, and Bob’s was really the only one of the bunch that offered that kind of brownie experience. If thick and soft brownies are your thing, Bob’s Red Mill brownie mix is what you’re after.

All the rest

Here’s everything else we tried that didn’t make it in the top three. Honestly, though, this test was really difficult and I don’t think you could go wrong with any of these:
